Given the prestige associated with winning one of the GSMA’s annual Global Mobile awards, applications best get their skates on because there’s only just over a month left to enter. Cut-off date is Friday, 28 November 2008.

And this year the GSMA has gone eco-friendly with a new Green Mobile award. Perhaps some-one has perfected an entirely clockwork handset? Or, maybe the network operators could consider couriering mobile phones by horse?

A typical happy winner is KF Lai who’s CEO with BuzzCity which won the Best Mobile Social networking Service in 2008.

He says, “The buzz created within the mobile industry from winning the awards was tremendous, benefiting our partners by validating their decisions to work with us.”

Other categories include Best Mobile Advertising Service and Best Mobile Broadband Handset/Device. Naturally the gongs will be handed out at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, next February (2009).
