Guavus expands big data analytics footprint to Western European operators

Company takes ‘Apps Store’ approach to real-time, streaming data

Press release

February 29th 2012. Guavus – a decision analytics company that enables complex decision making in environments with significant data volume, variety and velocity, has announced its Western European launch. Tier-One customers and Key investors with growing traction in the US, Guavus currently counts three of the top four mobile operators and three of the top five Internet backbone operators as key accounts. Deployment partners also include four of the top five largest global communication infrastructure vendors. In addition, Guavus recently raised $25 million in a series-B growth round led by Intel Capital, Artiman Ventures and Sofinnovia Ventures. The company will use the new funds to continue to expand the reach of its industry-leading big data analytics platform to new industries and geographic markets. “New investments in Guavus offer perspective on the centrality of big-data analytics to the future health of mobile and broadband networks,” said Anukool Lakhina, founder and CEO of Guavus. “Our European launch gives operators in the region access to unprecedented depth and range in business and network intelligence – a completely holistic approach that sets us apart from competing solutions. To the extent that data usage has stretched 3G networks to capacity, and as more European operators plan critical 4G upgrades, our technology offers an indispensible toolkit to ensure maximum ROI and subscriber satisfaction.”

An ‘Apps Store’ Approach to Big Data Analytics Guavus specializes in a growing set of real-time, streaming analytics problems involving exponentially exploding data, the need for faster business decision-making, and the fusing of data from multiple silos within companies. With an ‘Apps Store’ approach, Guavus can address specific use cases and help operators master the most strategically critical areas of their businesses. For example, network-focused apps help operators manage the explosion in data use; customer-experience apps deal with issues ranging from multimedia content delivery to customer care.

According to a recent Cisco Visual Network Index, global mobile data traffic will grow 18 fold between 2011 and 2016. By 2016 there will also be more than 10 billion Internet-enabled mobile and M2M devices and modules. Internet-connected tablets alone will account for as much traffic in 2016 as the entire global mobile network in 2012. That said, it is imperative that operators put into action the data that otherwise sits statically within their networks.
