by Katerina Merzlova, a writer with Intellectsoft

Today we live in a very fast developing world, especially where the technological sphere is concerned. Even five years ago we couldn’t even imagine having devices in everyday use such as we have today. Ultrabooks, tablets, and smartphones have changed our business and entertainment life. The year is coming to its end. We anticipate several great releases by Apple, Microsoft, Motorola, and Samsung coming in theAutumn, but it is also fascinating to try to guess what is going to be next. And so I’ll suggest to you some of the most probable technologies that will provide us with further development and will find their implementation in 2013.Phablets

What is this? This word finds its origin in a combination of the two words: – tablet and phone.

And as you might have guessed these phablet gadgets will marry the best functional and design features of tablet computers and smartphones.

They will have 7-8 inches screens; their price will be about $200; and they will get the full range of all possible specs.

The further development of such devices is fired by the significant popularity of such gadgets designed and released by Samsung and Amazon.

Besides, the iPad mini will become the very first phablet in Apple’s line-up this September [2012].

Flexible Touchscreens

There are already some prototypes of new smartphones that have these new screens.

This technology will make smartphones and tablets lighter and much thinner. And the quality of the image will be increased as well.

Platform-Independent Application Development and Multi-platform Smartphones

Another very important step will be taken in mobile application development. The hardware manufacturers are developing mobile phones that may run any existing mobile operation system.

And mobile developers are working out the unified system of app development for all platforms.

LTE technology

LTE is the next generation of wireless technology which is supposed to raise the speed of information transmitting up to thousands of megabits per minute.

Incidentally, Motorola has recently announced its latest smartphone – the Photon – that is supposed to support this very technology.

Infrared Keyboards

Keyboards will change their form using infrared technologies. This will allow faster and more convenient texting in comparison with current QWERTY keyboards.

Near Field Communication (NFC)

NFC allows wireless commercial transactions through swiping. This technology has already been installed in Android , BlackBerry and Nokia devices.

The next version of Apple’s OS – iOS 6, is supposed to have e-wallet technology using NFC under the name of Passbook.

Voice Assistance

The introduction of Siri technology by Apple has been a boom in the world of mobile devices. Lots of mobile developers are trying to develop it further and to make it even more advanced.

One thing is clear: voice control will become essential part of any smartphone in future.

Of course, there are many more possible technological ideas that are just waiting to be developed.

But these ones have already got some developers’ attention and are used in some newly released devices and so they have acquired popularity among the users.

So, that’s why they are the most probable ones in the line for further development.

What do you think?
