GyPsii Launches LBS Mobile Social Network Platform, globally

by: Bena Roberts Sunday, February 10th, 2008

GyPsii is going live at Mobile World Congress.

Gypsii?
Gypsii is a n LBS based social networking service that offers location based search for people, places and events.

From the press release

“The real time location-based element of GyPSii adds a new dimension to the social networking phenomenon. The device we all carry in our pocket, our mobile phone, is now empowered to record your life; where you are and what you do, and share it in real-time within your chosen social networking communities,” said Dan Harple, founder and CEO.

“Rather than sitting indoors chatting to friends on a PC-based service – you can be out and about seeing who is nearby, what they are doing and where you could go – all in real time. GyPSii takes a virtual connection with your friends and turns it into a real connection,” he added.

What we think?
I have tested GyPsii and it has huge potential.

As a firm believer that search is vital in every application or new mobile feature the way in which GyPsii wants to provide one click geo-tagging is extremely important in the mobile value chain.

It is very early days in LBS social networking, but white label products such as these will become sought after by both media brands and operators. Asia is vital for the uptake of these services and a recent partnership with Dopod to provide a range of LBS information services to Dopod Club members in China look positive for the company.

I am meeting GyPsii on Thursday and more then. Download GyPsii at www.gypsii.com
