How to view GoMo News via Myiota
Rating: Plus a DIY guide to finding THE MWC party
listing
by Tony Dennis
I was half way through road testing the
Myiota guide to free parties at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC)
show in Barcelona when I noticed that Bena had actually beaten me to announcing the news here.Well, never mind, because I think the subject still deserves a quick guide as
to how to install this useful facility onto your handset. Especially since Myiota has
the good taste to feature GoMo News as one of the prime sources of news to (hopefully)
emanate from the forthcoming Barcelona show.
A crucial point about Myiota is that you have to access its site directly to download the appropriate piece of software –
it’s no good surfing to the site on your PC and trying to side-load the
application afterwards.
This means you actually have to type the full URL -’wap.myiota.co.uk/mwc’ into
your handset’s browser.
Once you got there you can download the
application to your handset or its memory card. Having done so, fire the
application up and access the service.
Myiota claims that its application runs
with a very wide range of mobile handsets including entry-level models – not just
a handful of best selling Nokia smartphones like other mobile apps I could
mention.
Anyway, once you’ve fired up Myiota, select
the ‘Services’ option and you should immediately see ‘News from GoMo’. That’s
us. Click on the option and you get to view the last 24 hours of our service;
the last three days’ or two weeks worth of headlines.
Now back to the main task in hand. Accessing
the MWC party list from your mobile phone. This feed is actually found by going
to ‘More Services’. My advice is to search for it by typing in the full string
‘Mobile World Congress Party’. Once you’ve located it, don’t forget to add it
to your list of favourites.
And that’s about it, save to thank ‘Alison’
for uploading the details of the GoMo News Blender party as one of the very
first entries. A Crackerjack pencil is wending its way to you right now.
The best bit is that now you have absolutely no
excuse for turning up to what will obviously become the most hip party this
year.
