ICSS Analyst Roundtable – Helmut Angst Head of DT ICSS – “ICSS Business – changing ahead of the curve”
Rating: T
by Bena Roberts
Helmut Angst is the Senior Executive Vice President of Deutsche Telekom’s International Carrier Sales and Solutions division. He gave the opening keynote at yesterday’s analyst roundtable.
I am new to wholesale, as everyone knows I come from a pure mobile background; but at the event I quickly realised that whatever the department convergence is key and everyone is talking the same buzz words, market definitions and jargon.
So, I didn’t feel uncomfortable in fact; I had a fantastic day where I learnt a lot but most importantly saw from the inside how teams are creating new visions and strategies for the future.
Helmut started off his keynote focusing on the new T for Deutsche Telekom. The original pillars of T-Mobile, T-Systems, T-Online and T-Com are being replaced with one brand and one company. He spoke openly about the new era for Deutsche Telekom and about how mistakes had happened but there was now room for more growth and market opportunity in wholesale by focusing on the customer and pushing the wholesale ecosystem and adding to the package rather than just selling minutes.
This was interesting; but ICSS has a lot of work to do as it playing catch-up in an extremely competitive market and more MVNO’s are failing than succeeding. The future of the MVNO or the ICSS enabler business will depend on brands embracing the need to add voice or mobile to the value chain.
