Instant Access Technologies - The small British company that’s taking on Yahoo, Google and MSN.
Rating: I love the underdog me!
Instant Access Technologies today announced the release of Zabidoo - an application they claim is a “revolutionary new ‘web navigator‘.They Say: The application offers, amongst other things:
One Click Technology
a clickable directory delivering instant access to over 1000 mobile websites. No typing in URLs.
choice of top news feeds and a combined search of the most popular search engines, optimised to deliver mobile-friendly content.
Personalised environment for your interests
Favourites synchronisation with your PC
They add “Browsing the web on your mobile can be a frustrating experience. Typing in web addresses on mobile phone keypads is annoying and time-consuming. When you do eventually find a website, often it won’t display properly - or at all. Many websites which claim to be mobile ready just aren’t, and many that do work are American and won’t work without a zip code… all in all it’s not been much fun. Until now!”
We say: Well I wouldn’t say it hasn’t been fun till now, but that’s the beauty of PR ehh. You have to give them kudos though for releasing this kind of application. The application looks a little unfocused to me on first glance, trying to be many things, but then I havent used it yet and perhaps they tie together well in the operation. I do really like the idea of just having to type the first 3 letters instead of a whole URL.
It’s going to be/is a crowded market this with many big tech brands going after this space so Instant Access Technologies may have a hard time but that’s not to say they cant cut a niche market. When I get a second Ill download their app and give it a spin and report back. If you want to download it yourself for free, you can here. Give it a go and tell us what you think.

I tried this application both pc client and mobile client. Both products are poorly implemented. The design is a mis-match with the interface taking up too much screen space.
the whole application and business model has not really been thought through. No one will want to download a 3rd party plugin register their personal details on a website and then have all of their browsing habits stored.
The mobile client is very limited and in no way can compete with the established players that have already had a product in the market for 10 years.
The content is very very limited. Often you will perform a search and something totally irelevant will appear in the results.
This kind of application was probably a good idea maybe 4 years ago but now it is far too late.
This idea is doomed to failure. It is too late to market and can not compete with the far more innovative products out there now.
