Instant Communication to snatch back subscribers’ hearts & minds

Rating: Mobilethink offer toll for luring customers away from Web 2.0 giants

In the battle to win the hearts and minds of existing cellular subscribers away from the Web 2.0 giants – such as Google and Apple, Mobilethink believes that it come up with an ideal tool for mobile network operators. The company is calling this tool its ‘Instant Communication’ module and claims it will be offering the software in Q4 2012. The target for Instant Communication is new customers or those upgrading from one handset to another. The objective is to actively promote operator services to such subscribers and Mobilethink claims this tool is the first of its kind.Thomas Yde Frederiksen, Mobilethink’s chief of product management and marketing, commented,”This is one of the few opportunities that enables the operator to recapture some of the customer’s attention away from Apple and Google and to get their service messaging across to the customer from Day One.”

Through timely and non-intrusive communication with customers immediately after handset power-on, the module aims to ensure faster launch and adoption of data services by subscribers.

The tool will equip mobile operators with immediate opportunities to promote and monetise the value-added-services that will have the biggest impact on both customer satisfaction and operator revenue, naturally.

Typical examples value-added service which would benefit from such promotions include operator mobile portals; self-care billing apps; operator app-stores and handset support forums.

“This will evolutionise the mobile operator’s perception of Mobile Device Management (MDM),” Frederiksen claims.

“Our ability to Connect, Promote, Support and Analyse the devices on the operator’s network will form the core of our future value proposition.”

Mobilethink argues that Instant Communication facilitates direct marketing campaigns.

Plus it enables automatic notification of operator CRM, mobile marketing and business intelligence when any devices are activated on the network that match a specific operator service – based on the ‘new’ handset’s capabilities.

Instant Communication is part of the next major DMS release 4.0 from Mobilethink due for launch in Q4 2012.
