Rating: that good; NO. That’s bad…

iO global has signed a service provision agreement with Xiam based on licensing and up front fees. The aim of the collaboration is to integrate Xiam targeting technology with iO’s ME platform. iO global will provide the content platform service and Xiam the content targeting and recommendations with MPOS.

From the press release
According to Colm Healy CEO at Xiam, “iO global have a real vision of how mobile can become the touchstone for enjoying great digital content when, where, and how you want it. What we are all about at Xiam is making that possible by bringing the customer only the right content choices. We are delighted to be part of iO global’s vision to proactively bring meaningful content and mobile services to consumers to allow for engaging experiences”

Martin Knestrick CEO of iO global said “Xiam provides the most proven targeting and recommendations technology available today in the mobile market. We believe that people’s mobile devices are becoming the “remote control” for their hectic, ‘on-the-run’ lives. To serve them in this mode, a complex ecosystem of best products is required to deliver what people want in these ‘on-the-run’ moments.”

What we think?
My oh my – recommendation is certainly a hot topic at the moment. Purple Ace… Fastsearch just bought AgentArts and Xiam is a regular feature on GoMo News. I suppose its great, but why. There has been a lot of talk about recommendation clinching the sale – but I am not so sure. The recommendation business model might assist sales but it not the be all and end all. More on this in this months Mobile Advertising and Marketing Analyst.
