iPhone game rockets to #1 spot in USA and 18 other countries in just 5 days
The Rick Rocketson iPhone game is a free application from Liquid Air Lab. Five days after it was released, the ad-enabled game became the #1 downloaded free application in the Apple iTunes App Store in the USA and 18 other countries. 50 countries have the app in their top 3 rank.
From the release:
“We are overwhelmed about the success of the game and about the distribution power of the Apple App Store. We are now offering the advertisers access to the the finest and most valuable audience on mobile space, the iPhone and iPod Touch users“ says Mikko Linnamäki, CEO of Liquid Air Lab / adplace.com
What we think?
Rick Rocketson is a proper, old school platformer. How did it get so big so quick?
That it is ad-enabled simply can’t be ignored. The latest release from Admob stressed how free games and apps are the hottest downloads over the iPhone app market. It’s also hard to ignore that Liquid Air Labs is expert in mobile advertising and has it’s own advertising platform, adplace.co, and that’s bound to give you an edge!
This really does seem to support the ad funded model for mobile content. With so much more mobile content becoming available so rapidly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this become the standard.
