Rating: show me some emocion

Mobile search and advertising provider JumpTap’s solution is now live on Telefonica’s emocion portal. The service has been live since May, but has only been announced today.

From the press release:
“As the leader in the market, it was essential we deployed a search and advertising solution that would enhance the user experience without being intrusive. The mobile screen is too small to make mistakes,” says Susana Rodriguez, Director of Online and M-Commerce at Telefónica. “The JumpTap solution seamlessly integrated into the movistar emoción platform and delivers search results with highly relevant sponsored links associated to the search, along with high impact, contextual advertisements throughout the portal.”

Rodriguez continues, “Mobile advertising is still in its infancy, yet major brands are already recognising the huge potential offered by this new medium. Advertisers are recognizing that no other channel comes close in terms of combining audience reach with the ability to interact on a personal level with targeted subscribers, as well as having the results associated with their campaigns in an online way.”

“We are delighted that a globally recognised regional market leader is taking such a big leap forward with new technology the way Telefónica has done. It demonstrates a tremendous commitment to the future of the mobile marketing. This move will undoubtedly be commercially beneficial for advertisers who now have access to a new, young demographic on the most interactive and personal medium we have seen to-date,” says Dan Olschwang, President and CEO of JumpTap.

What we think?
This is great news for JumpTap. The press release also insists that JumpTap sold its advertising inventory on the emocion portal twice since its launch. Contextual advertising was used and ads were served in many content channels including games. Mobile advertisers included: Sony Ericsson, Warner Music, Gameloft, Vivendi Games Mobile, Coca-Cola, Buongiorno, Terra, Barclays Bank, PrisaCom and BMW.

Hmmm.
Now today I also read a similar story in New Media Age where Orange and Vodafone said that ad-inventory was being sold out. Even though I am over the moon for JumpTap with this announcement and I send out warm congratulations to Dan, Eric, Adam, Mike and the team – I am going to have to do some more digging on the ad-inventory issue.

Because selling out on display ads can mean two things. Not both are positive.

Anyway – that is something for The Mobile Search Analyst and Annie is off to the US next week and then to Spain so when she is there she will purchase a Telefonica SIM so we can test this live.
