This is the second of a run of operator slots at the Mobile Web 2.0 conference. The key question Kennet Radne wanted to ask was….
How do you make money in the new mobile world?
The four answers are:
1. Still provide access and traffic
2. Content
3. Technology Enablers (billing, CRM, location, authentication, security)
4. Advertising – for free, ad-based, bundles
Kennet further explained where he felt mobile was at the moment in short:
We are in stage one where Mobile WAP was king and SMS ruled.
Then phase 2 is where mobile web is discovered and the mobile portal drives the mobile internet.
The new medium is the evolution to the future which is built on the WAP portal and to build specific communities for mobile web such as user generated mobile content this means including new clients and soft keys for instant one click access into mobile services.
A new experience is called Surf Open – which is seamless browsing. This is a fantastic new opportunity for TeliaSonera and it has the ability to control the environment of how the user surfs by managing it, enhancing it adding search, RSS, experiences. Telia already has 60 million mobile page views per month and it can use the above framework to add mobile advertising.
TeliaSonera has real estate and this real estate is the WAP portal and this IS the operator role in the future of Mobile web 2.0. But TeliaSonera doesn’t expect to grow this in-house.
TeliaSonera is looking for partners for search, advertising, content providers ….. what are you waiting for.
