Gomo news is a huge fan of Lebara the ethnic MVNO concept that started in the Netherlands. The low-cost MVNO targets ethnic communities with ultra-low cost prices. Lebara’s success is due to its ability to focus on nostalgia, community images but at the same time maintaining strong “new roots” in the home country. It does this with traditional and modern advertising and tariffs that favour local calling plans – just as much as international ones.

Lebara Mobile operates in Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In Spain, Lebara Mobile has teamed up with Vodafone and will offer prepaid cards for EUR 5, 10 and 20. Intra-mobile calls (Lebara to Lebara) are only EUR 0.01 per minute. (WOW). International calls start at EUR 0.05 (30 second billing). It is EUR 0.15 for national calls or calls to competitors. SMS is EUR 0.12 and international SMS is EUR 0.39.
