Lee Fenton COO Jamba – scares everyone at MEM08
I twittered some comments Lee Fenton made during his panel session at MEM08 and someone responded “is he in glue”.
I don’t think that Lee Fenton from Jamba is on glue, but he did say some pretty big things during his panel. (Which was the best one of the morning).
The biggest ones.
1. We have 100 million to spend on advertising – but we won’t spend it because of huge lack on inventory especially on mobile.
2. We see the future in managing the whole of the mobile entertainment business for mobile operators. Outsourcing is the only way operators are going to make money
3. Ringtones are it.
4. German rabbit “schnuffle” ringtone went platinum as a single. It started as a ringtone then went to a record and now has a CD and something or another went platinum.
So what did we think?
I think that if you listened to Lee very carefully – he is still banging the ringtone drum but really – he was also thinking and working on a lot bigger things. Again, ringtones are huge and are not dead (according to him). Ringtones make a lot of money. But he also spoke about records, CD’s and music studios. Ringtones are only part a. Part b and c are the juicy bits.
What are they?
Part b is the music industry
Part c is managing services for operators
