Lufthansa Mobile Barcode Boarding Pass
Lufthansa airlines has announced a massive expansion of their mobile boarding passes service. The UK branch is now using mobile barcodes on flights from London Heathrow to Germany. Many more European flights are going to be added in the near future.
You can now request a boarding pass to be sent to your mobile phone when traveling from Heathrow. The pass is transmitted by SMS and contains your name, flight information, and a 2d QR barcode. You can use it to check in and scan through security checkpoints instead of the traditional boarding card.
What we think:
This is fantastic news for mobile barcoding. The service is useful, quick and incredibly high-profile. After all, what better way to raise consumer awareness of mobile barcodes than by having a major airline adopt them?
