Lunch with Willie Donnelly, Micheal O Foghlu and Barry Downes of the TSSG and WIT
OK. If you don’t know who Willie Donnelly, Micheal O Foghlu and Barry Downes are – you should.
They are basically at the head of the TSSG and the gurus behind the Waterford Institute of Technology (which is soon to become a University). Michael (pronounced MiHaul) is some sort of Perl Guru and has a history being a techie demi-god. Willie is the owner and Chief of the whole business (with a very charismatic personality) and sharp business man Barry Downes is the Head of Commercial projects (which Mobile SEO business visibility mobile is one of).
So basically it was three Irish gurus and me!
Anyway, I had the pleasure of having lunch with all three of them on Thursday last week. We ate at the lovely college canteen which was full of students and bought back some strong and nostalgic Student Union memories to me.
But anyway, it was like talking to my best friends! But it wouldn’t be me if we didn’t have a few clangers. When asked if I was a vegetarian (due to my salad) I said, OMG No – there is nothing better than having a great steak and I just don’t get vegetarians. To my dismay both Willie and Micheal looked at me and said we are vegetarians (ARGGHH!!!!).
I joked I was a Hindu – so, me not being a vegetarian was terrible and Willie joked about what I would be when reincarnated. I held myself back and didn’t say a “holy cow” which I did think about.
But after the fun was over we got down to the nitty gritty and I was asked to keep everyone informed and up to date on visibility mobile. I had anticipated this question, so I started off with the same three minute pitch I gave to Barry when I first spoke to him (a few months ago) and then into what we are planning.
It went really well and as I spoke the questions just got harder but my confidence grew and after about an hour everyone was happy with what we were going to achieve. I mean I have my work cut out for me managing GoMo News and also writing for visibility mobile and planning for the launch. But I have a great team and I simply loved these three brains too.
Get ready for visibility mobile, but I know huge things are also coming out of Waterford (TSSG.org and WIT.ie) so put your seatbelts on.
Picture of our first ever visibility mobile party here and a thank-you to Paul Savage and Sinead Quealy for managing me!
