Montavo announced today that Mattress Depot USA has entered the mobile advertising market with the mDeal-Finder mobile app. The opt-in, location-based service delivers coupons and deals to customers.
The downloadable app sits on the mobile desktop, and reports on nearby deals and stores. The service allows mobile consumers to access a huge variety of highly localized, regularly updated information. Users can search for product launches, sales, discounts, coupons, offers, and promotions for every business and service in the area.
Montavo also claims that its patent pending technology can track and report on sales made as a result of Montavo’s mobile ads.
From the release:
Brook Lang, CEO of Montavo, said, “Mattress Depot USA sells quality clearance and close out mattresses at reduced prices from brand name leading bedding manufacturers. In 2006, Mattress Depot USA was the 5th fastest growing private company in Washington State.”
David Smith CEO of Mattress Depot USA said, “Every penny spent in this current state of economy for advertising should be as accountable as possible… and as far as we know, only Montavo can let the advertisers do this.”
What we think?
I’m generally not a fan of location-based advertising. Getting a text from a nearby Starbucks is not more likely to make me go there – it’s more likely to make me annoyed because I just received an unsolicited text. But the Montavo service really seems to go beyond that. After a recent deal with infoUSA, more than 14 million businesses can push information through the Montavo app. So people who want to passively browse or actively search for deals in their area will almost certainly find something.
