MCN is making a powerful impact in the mobile search space. The company currently up to win a Meffy at tomorrow nights awards in Monte Carlo for its FM Radio Music Search has now extended its reach in Japan.

Once again working very closes with D2Communications in Japan, MCN is now delivering real-time mobile search across all premium music listings on iMenu. The iMenu service is used by up to 50 million mobile subscribers.

From the press release

“With music continuing to be one of the most popular mobile content categories we are putting great effort into improving how users search for music,” said Takayuki Hoshuyama, COO of D2 Communications. “Thanks to the excellent performance of the FM Radio Music Search services we are confident that this next step in working with MCN will be fruitful”.

Our ability to conduct real-time search of the most suitable mobile content enables us to deliver actionable results within the most popular music category to the most advanced wireless users in the world,” said Marc Bookman, CEO of MCN. “We’ve designed platform, and recently opened a major new data centre in Tokyo, to scale to meet the needs of DoCoMo and D2C, as well as other partners in the vast Japanese mobile content ecosystem”.

What we think?
We like MCN it’s managing to make waves in territories that are untapped by many larger competitors. I would say that MCN might be an interesting take-over target.
