Microsoft goes Deep Fishing
Rating: we predict that 2007 will be the year of the mobile browser
In the past few months, there have been a number of announcements in the mobile browsing marketplace. Here is a small snippet from this the April Mobile Search Analyst.
Recent Big Wins in the Mobile Browser Sector
1. Ask.com mobile teams with Skweezer
2. JumpTap partners with Openwave
3. Novarra deploys 3 Hong Kong’s 3XPlorer
4. Infospace partners with InfoGin
Mobile search companies are finally realising that finding answers is not enough. The user interface and the way the answers or search is represented is at least as important to the consumer. Which is why there is the high level of interest in mobile browsers – see our competitive analysis of InfoGin vs Novarra in this issue.
Now Microsoft has announced DeepFish Beta.

What is it?
It’s a mobile browsing experience aimed at improving the user interface. It allows users to zoom in and out of mobile pages and navigate content via the small screen.
What we think?
Novarra also offers mobile Zoom technology and the 3Xplorer is the new face of the X-Series in HongKong. It would be interesting to know if it had any patents around its zoom mobile technology, because it has been in the market for the past six years.
We haven’t tested this yet, so can’t comment if its any good – but when we do test it – you will be the first to know!
