Microsoft Search Money Back and thoughts from the mobile side

by: Bena Roberts Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Rob wrote about Microsoft and its cash back reward scheme for using Live Search. I read an article on Tech Crunch and commented on it today as well about the cash back scheme.

But then I really thought about it the fact of the matter is:

1. Cash back or revenue generation from search is a simple, yet valuable and strong solution for any company playing catch-up in the mobile space.

2. Microsoft is playing catch-up online.

But what about mobile?

This is where my head actually got quite excited today.

1. Microsoft should buy a mobile visual search company

2. Microsoft should buy a mobile barcode company

3. Microsoft needs to take this mobile

4. Use search, see physical objects or barcodes - get discounts - become a subscriber get more discounts.

End result: constant, consistent use of Microsoft Live Search 6.1.
