mInfo and Xiaoi deliver natural language mobile search to Chinese instant messenger users

Mobile Search provider mInfo and Incesoft have announced a partnership to bring conversational search to Chinese MSN instant messenger users.
Conversational search?
Basically mInfo has carved a niche for itself to provide natural language search. This is tying in questions or typing as you talk when searching and not in “keyword” format.
mInfo has been providing this but now with the new partnership the natural language search will be distributed under the XiaoMing IM search robot to more Chinese users.
From the press release
“Currently there are over 80 million mobile instant messaging users in
China. With this number having grown over 400% just in this year, it’s
clear to see the promising future of IM on mobile devices and the pending
need for search capabilities by these users,” said Alvin Wang Graylin, CEO
of mInfo. “One of mInfo’s technical strengths is in supporting natural
language search, which coincides well with instant messaging that is
inherently a natural language communications tool. The alliance with
Incesoft will provide our joint users with more conveniences and easier
access to useful information whether on mobile devices or PCs.”
What we think?
mInfo is going for it. It bought an expat mobile search company earlier in the year to gear up for the Chinese Olympics. Then it teamed up with Medio the US Mobile Search company for Chinese search and now with Incesoft. mInfo has a lead in natural language search which it want to retain and its making strong efforts to do so.
