mjelly mobile search and discovery at m.mjelly.com
I met the founder of mjelly last week in James Coops London and we enjoyed a Starbucks Earl Grey together. During that time I got a full demo of the mjelly directory and the mobile search interface.
What can I say?
Mjelly is much much better than the first version or at least the mobile version that I first saw. (I was helping with mobile SEO but take over and changes with visibilty mobile took over). In the beginning mjelly was a mobile ringtone engine (in my opinion and engine is being polite..). But the addition of search and discovery makes this a much stronger and appealing solution.
Mjelly has changed from something standard to something strong where services can be found, tagged, commented on or rated. So it adds a number of features to the search for 2.0 services or mobile software. I would describe it as a mobile software GetJar style pure mobile play. I say that because the online site is not hot –but the mobile site is improving daily.
From the press release
The mjelly directory lists sites that are specially formatted for mobile, which have proliferated over the last year as the mobile internet has taken off. Mobile optimized sites on mjelly include those from mobile 2.0 startups like Mippin, the mobile versions of major web players such as Facebook, as well as those created by media companies like the BBC.
James Coops, the founder of mjelly, says, “I have been involved in building mobile internet sites since the dark days of wap in 2001 and have never seen such a fantastic range of new mobile services available. I created mjelly to solve the problem of actually finding these mobile sites and getting them on your phone in an easy way.”
What we think?
This is a good improvement -but a lot more needs to be done.
1. GoMo News needs to be added to the index…
2. There needs to be a submit button for the directory
Are the main two!
We support the mobile start-up particularly in the mobile search, mobile software, mobile advertising space so everyone please check out m.mjelly.com
