mKhoj tackles local dialects with new mobile advertising service

mKhoj has announced a new service for mobile advertisers. The mKhoj mobile advertising network will now allow ads to be uploaded in hundreds of local languages and alphabets, including Afrikaans, Arabic, Bahasa, Hindi, Tamil, Turkic, and Zulu.

Very specific mobile alphabets aren’t always supported on mobile displays, which leads to those little squares that replace unrecognised characters. This service will allow better tailored ads for less common alphabets in seventeen different countries. Mobile advertisers who sign up for the service will be able to directly upload an ad in the local language it’s targeting.

From the release:

Abhay Singhal, Head of Global Sales, mKhoj said “Empowering advertisers to speak to consumers in their native language enables them to make more personal connections with their target audiences. This provides multinational advertisers a more effective way to reach local audiences around the globe.”

What we think?

Not the biggest story in the world – but it’s easy for us to say that in Europe and America. Our alphabets are commonly used all over the world. As more companies look to foreign and emerging markets for mobile profits, this kind of service will be essential.
