MMA Event Budapest: David Barker Nokia on the podium

David Barker from Nokia gave a great presentation today at the MMA. As I mentioned in the past I am a huge fan of branded phones and I love the case study on Nokia Mobile Advertising in Brazil.

So after the presentation I decided to give David a hard time. I asked.

Has Nokia killed enpocket, did you do the right thing blah blah…

The response: David gave a hot response to a tough question. He said that in the UK Enpocket was very mobile marketing focused and in other countries it was mobile advertising.  When the Nokia deal came along it was for a pure mobile advertising solution and that is what excited us.

He spoke with conviction that he felt that the right thing has been done and the future with up to twelve branded campaigns in the pipeline next year – vital.

Now – if I thought my question was hard the moderator Alexandra Deutsch from Out There Media asked, “Do you have any mobile operator clients”.

The response from David. “No. But if you are a mobile operator and you want mobile advertising- I promise you we will do a great job”.

What we think?

Honest feedback from David which I think got him a lot of respect in the room.

Please see new post on this I am about to write - just a small correction from Nokia.

What I said was yes we do sell advertising for operators - Sprint in the US and Airtel in India.

My response was for the second question based on Europe - which excluded the Vodafone Case Study that I discussed.
