One of the biggest mobile ad networks in the world, InMobi has been showing a talent for getting exclusive contracts. Originating in India, the network has made massive strides in non-First World countries – and for the past few months it has been winning big contracts in America and Australia. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to stop it’s other global efforts, as todays exclusive with Thailands largest mobile social network shows.
What’s the deal?
After various regulatory battles and difficulties over the past year, Thailand has gotten its 3G networks up and running and is expanding them across the country. The biggest mobile social network in Thailand is hi5 – and InMobie has nailed a deal to be the exclusive provider of mobile advertising to everyone who accesses it in the country. This is another win for InMobi in Asia Pacific – where it claims it already receives 5 billion ad requests per month.
Cathy Meyer, Senior Director of Ad Operations, from hi5 comments, “InMobi’s local language support and local sales efforts have dramatically increased the ad revenue for our mobile site while simultaneously offering our consumers locally relevant advertising.“
What we think?
This is pretty much identical to the deal InMobi signed with Jumbuck in Australia and MocoSpace in America. It’s an interesting niche that InMobi is carving for itself there – making exclusive deals with the largest mobile social networks in these countries.

A correction re: the origins of InMobi. The company was founded in India (not South Africa) and launched in 2007 with investment in part from Silicon Valley based Kleiner Perkins.
