Sofialys, a French mobile advertising company, has announced the introduction of iPhone support to it’s mobile advertising platform. Mobile AdBox will now place text, banner, video and rich-media ads into mobile browsers and applications for the iPhone. This new AdBox service, which provides a search engine advertising option much like Google’s AdWords, is launching with several app developers and publishers already on board.
Sofialys has been in the mobile advertising business since 2002, and claims that the AdBox server currently gets 150m impressions per month in 200 campaigns across Europe, Asia, the USA and the Middle East.

We continue to create the tools that will help both publishers and advertisers fully engage with the mobile as a mass media.”
What we think?
The hype surrounding smartphones, and the iPhone in particular, often amuses me. While the analytics are undoubtedly impressive, they still represent only a small share of the current mobile advertising market. Now you have a company like Sofialys, which counts as an elder statesman in the world of mobile advertising, having been around for over 6 years now. It seems to me like it hasn’t been bothered to get involved with smartphones until applications proved that they had real lasting power – if this iPhone service goes well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Blackberry and Android extensions coming along soon.
