Mobile advertiser MIG reaches 500 million ad milestone
Mobile Interactive Group (MIG), today announced it has delivered over half a billion mobile marketing “experiences” since launch in May 2004. Specialising in providing mobile interaction at live events, MIG debuted at Live8 in June 2005
Expansion since then has seen MIG launch mobile ad agency 4th Screen, digital interactive agency Jigsaw and experiential agency New Toy. MIG plans to launch two further new companies in the next three months.
From the release:
Barry Houlihan, CEO, MIG said “This is a huge landmark both for MIG and for the mobile marketplace in general and demonstrates how mobile marketing is continuing to play a core role in marketing and communications for brands and businesses. We are excited by the impact of smart phones like the iPhone and how new devices, and discovery, is changing the way people use their personal and mobile devices. Innovation continues to drive the mobile marketing industry forward and we will continue to position MIG and our other businesses within the group at the very forefront of our industry.”
What we think?
It’s nice to occasionally just post a feel good news story. MIG works in mobile billing, apps, interactive events, marketing services and video. While the press release doesn’t specify how it’s doing in all of those segments, we know that 4th Screen are doing well. Again, it shows that the money is there to be made in mobile advertising and the mobile web. Seemingly alone amongst marketing channels, mobile Internet advertising is looking like it could go up and up in 2009.
