Today is a good day for mobile news – welcome to the Wednesday round-up of the hottest mobile advertising and marketing stories from GoMo News! Apple has slashed the cost of iAd campaigns, Navteq is expanding it’s location advertising platform, and much more…
APPLE – maybe the most interesting news in the mobile advertising world today is that Apple has cut the price for an iAd campaign in half. Previously, you had to pay at least $1 million to play – now that price has dropped to $500k: http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20110223/exclusive-apple-halves-minimum-iad-buy/?mod=googlenews
LOCATION – Navteq has built a successful mobile advertising platform on top of it’s own mapping and navigation service. Today it has announced will be providing access to that LBS advertising platform to both Samsung and RIM: http://wirelessfederation.com/news/36185-navteq-expands-mobile-advertising-platform/
IN-APP – mobile app developer Numo has finished a trial run of in-app advertising on it’s various products. The ad (for Opera Mini) was placed within a selection of applications that Numo provides. It claims that, depending on the app, the CTR for the Opera Mobile unit got as high as 35%: http://www.mobilemarketingwatch.com/numo-completes-in-app-mobile-advertising-trial-with-some-ads-reaching-35-percent-ctr-13394/
PHILLIPINES – we reported last November on the launch of the first mobile advertising platform based in the country – a deal between Globe Telecom and mobile advertising company Out There Media. It is reported that the opt-in ad service now has 1.7 million subscribers and has pulled in over $4 million in revenue: http://www.malaya.com.ph/feb23/busi3.html
