Apple looks into mobile advertising for their OS itself

There’s a definite tendency for people to stalk Apple’s patent applications. A new one has emerged that’s a doozy: mobile ads placed into the operating system itself.  It would allow ads to be inserted at any time while you use your phone – but would allow you to use the function after the ad at a reduced price.

Mobile broadband is falsely advertised

The UKs independent telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has announced that mobile broadband services are still being falsely advertising by providers. According to research, 97% of consumers are getting a worse service than they were advertised.

Telecom Italia and Upstream extend their partnership to Brazil

For the last three years, mobile marketer Upstream has been working with operator Telecom Italia to boost ARPU in Europe and South America. It has now announced an additional partnership, to provide the same services to Telecom Italia’s 40+ million Brazilian subscribers.

SMS ads are the bane of Indian mobile owners

A look into the working day of an Indian SMS marketer reveals the depth of the problem. Jaspreet Singh of SMS4India can send 100,000 spam SMS per minute, and averages 20 million per month.

Mobile advertising is driving the use of coupons

There’s a fascination infographic over at Promotionalcodes, which shows the rise and use of mobile coupons as a form of advertising. Amongst other things, it shows that of the mobile owners who would be interested in receiving promotions on their phones, that majority would like to get shopping coupons.
