Starbucks has great experience with mobile barcodes
Starbucks launched its own mobile payment system earlier this year. It allowed customers with a loyalty card to link a mobile barcode to their account. With the barcode displayed on their iPhone, it allowed them to use their device AS their card and pay for items using it. Response has been so positive that Starbucks will be expanding the system and adding new services.

More good news for mobile barcodes…but where is Neomedia? They own the important IP, and continue to say that they’re…”the global leader in mobile scanning, management and publishing solutions”.
Iain McCready has said that Neomedia’s revenues would be generated by licensing their IP, transaction or code generated revenue, and from participating directly in mobile marketing.
It has been 18 months since the USPTO confirmed Neomedia’s vital 048 patent, and even though an ever increasing number of companies are using Neomedia’s IP, to date only a handful have thought it necessary to take out a license.
For “the global leader” we hear almost nothing about Neomedia’s successes in transaction or code related activity, and silence about any successes from their participation directly in mobile marketing.
Please interview Iain McCready and ask him why this is so, and what role is Neomedia playing in the development of the global mobile barcode ecosystem?
The big question: “Is Neomedia becoming increasingly irrelevant”?
