One of the two major standards for mobile barcodes, QR codes can be scanned by a smartphone and used to open a web page. In this case, the codes activate your phones mobile browser, which opens this landing page – providing info on three different Magellan developments around Chicago.

This story was picked up from 2d Code, who got the nod from Bar Code Graphics President, Andy Verb. The massive block of apartments is called Aqua – and posters for the block have a huge QR code placed prominently on them:
What we think?
Real estate seems to be one of those areas where mobile companies are pushing hard into. It’s not just the barcode people – there have been multiple apps released for real estate agents who want to keep abreast of local properties, customers and leads. But this is on a new scale. The Aqua development is huge, and hugely expensive. For Magellan to make the codes such a prominent part of the ad shows a faith that the target audience for this kind of residence will have the device needed to make use of it.

this would be great, except that if you scan the qr code it goes to a page that does not list what is available in the building so you don’t drum up any business
