Mobile Distillery launches optimization service for Android applications

Mobile Distillery, specialists in tools for producing and testing mobile apps, has announced the launch of Celsius Android. The service is designed to help developers more easily optimize apps and widgets for all Android OS devices. Given the amount of Android devices we can expect to start circulating this year, especially the G2/HTC Magic now’s a good time for this launch.

Mobile Distillery focuses on helping developers test and deploy applications as quickly and on as many different platforms as possible. It has already released development tools for Brew, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry.

From the release:

Vincent Berge, co-founder and CEO of Mobile Distillery said “We recognise that Android is becoming a platform of choice for mobile application developers and end users. We wanted to lend our expertise to Android applications and so developed Celsius Android. Using Celsius, all aspects of mobile application development are optimised and most importantly, porting cycles are faster. This in turn reduces the time to market of new mobile applications on any Android phone. The launch of Android offers many possibilities for the mobile market and with Celsius we want to help overcome any fragmentation issues so that the developer can be more powerful across all platforms and all phones.”

What we think?

Little steps are often the best. I’m usually pretty skeptical of whoever is touting the latest “fix all” service for mobile applications - the process IS getting better, but services like this are more likely to work without a hitch. A growing infrastructure of platforms designed to overcome the fragmentation of one particular manufacturer or OS is steadily growing. When these begin to integrate, you’ll see true possibilities for app publication.
