Mobile Messaging rockets says Verisign

by: Bena Roberts Thursday, August 28th, 2008

VeriSign’s Messaging and Mobile Media division has released the latest quarterly index of mobile messaging statistics. Q2 was a record breaking quarter for mobile messaging around the world.

Highlights are

•         In the first half of the year VeriSign’s messaging networks delivered 95.4 Inter-Carrier Short Message Service messages
•         52 billion messages were enabled in Q2, up 20% from the previous quarter
•         572 million messages per day were enabled in Q2
•         VeriSign’s networks set a single day record by enabling 648 million texts in 24 hours and a 1 hour record of 42 million messages
•         There was a 30% increase in A2P (application to person) traffic volumes in Europe and 33% worldwide

What we think?
Messaging continues to rock and roll. The numbers above are simply mad. It brings a strong case for an sms mobile ad campaign. Now that is coming from someone that once said SMS is dead!
