Mobile messenger Nimbuzz wins Red Herring award
Nimbuzz, provider of free calls, chat and messaging, has announced it has won a Red Herring Global 100 award which recognises the Top 100 tech-startups in the world.
From the release:
“Nimbuzz is now growing at around 20,000 new users every day and is the first aggregated mobile messenger company worldwide to receive this award.
Evaluations were made on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, innovation, management, global strategy, and ecosystem integration.”
What we think?
It’s been a good few months for Nimbuzz! With new apps and new contracts in the bag, 2009 is looking good. It has also received a nomination for the Mobile Monday Peer Awards 2009, the winners of which will be announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

So if the Red Herring Award is so special, how come 99 other companies get it too? An Award should make you stand out for being the best at something…sounds like they just lump 100 companies together and say “here you go.” Sound slike a scam when you read about how their journalists pick the Awards. Did they research the industry? doesn’t sound like it. SCAM Alert!
