buzzd announced today that it’s mobile app is now available on Blackberry App World. The service combines location-based services with a city guide and social networking - so that users can check which of their friends are nearby, as well as events and services. Up until recently the service was only available as a mobile website. With todays release, it is now available as an app for Blackberry, iPhone and Nokia devices.
The free app has some Blackberry exclusive features. Or, rather, features that adapt it to use on Blackberry, including automatically adding events and contacts to your BlackBerry Calendar and Contacts services.
From the release:
“This application marks the launch of buzzd 3.0, which we hope will connect people even more closely to the events and venues they love,” said buzzd co-founder and CEO, Nihal Mehta.
What we think?
The mixture of mobile social networking and location-based service is not new by any means. Gypsii has been at it for a while now, and Irish company Locle is working on something similar. The addition of a going out guide is a great idea though.
