Fring today announced an upgrade to it’s Nokia S60 and other Symbian devices. The updates make it easier to track a single friend across multiple channels, and allow greater customisation for “fringsters”. So far only Symbian users get this update – Windows Mobile and iPhone users will have to wait.
Fring is a mobile application that acts as a hub for a variety of IM, social networks and chat services. Skype, MSN, Google Talk, Twitter, AIM and Facebook are among the services integrated into it.
What are the updates?
Merge – this combines all of the services a friend uses into one location on his profile. You can see which channel they are available to talk on.
Photo – you can attach a single photo to all of your “fringable” communication services
Change nickname of you and friends
Mood messages – like on Bebo, let the world know how you’re feeling at a glance.

From the release:
Avi Shechter, Co-founder and CEO of fring: “Our fring users typically manage several separate online social circles on their phones and the internet. We’ve created a solution to keep the user in the center of their various social worlds, with one rich, dynamic profile for each contact that lets users see where their friends are available at a glance and facilitates easy social community experiences from one simple mobile phone interface.”
