GyPSii is the location-based mobile social network from mobile developer GeoSentric. GeoSentric has been busily working on new updates and releases for the social network, and today announced a clutch of them together.
The updates, brief version:
- Java capability in English
GyPSii was recently launched in China as a Java application. Java support has now been released for English speaking countries.
- Updating iPhone app
The iPhone app was launched in May. The app has been updated to integrate GyPSii functions closer with the iPhone camera and photo galleries, include iPhone OS 3.0 compatibility, integrate Chinese language options and other minor performance tweaks
- Updating Blackberry app
The Blackberry updates are mostly targeted at user experience. There is better flow between different GyPSii features; more options for commenting, viewing and sharing; updated browse and search functions; the ability to share Places with both GyPSii and non-GyPSii members using email/SMS
- Going live on Nokia’s Ovi store
GyPSii already runs on S60 devices, but now it’s available for download over Ovi
From the release:
“GyPSii is constantly looking for ways to improve and build upon our user experience across a wide range of devices, making it simple for people to create content and share their lives with friends, family and other members of the GyPSii community,” said Shane Lennon, SVP Marketing and Product Management at GyPSii. “We see the feedback and suggestions received from our membership and the market as key to the continuous evolution of the user experience, and we have incorporated much of this into today’s latest round of developments.”
“The arrival of GyPSii on Java in other regions is a major milestone for us,” said Dan Harple, Executive Chairman at GyPSii. “The Java handset community is one of the world’s largest so this is a massive step forward and builds on our recent successful launches into the iPhone and Blackberry markets, while complementing our existing availability on Windows Mobile, Symbian, web and netbook devices.
What we think?
GyPSii has been focusing a lot on it’s Chinese audience – the Java version of the app went to China before it came to Europe and America, and the iPhone version is being adapted to cater to localised Chinese. But it’s great to see those updates filtering back to Europe and America – why should wielders of lower end phones be ignored here?
