Mobile social network Wadja relaunches with an eye on on-line
Wadja.com has announced the re-launch of its mobile social networking site. The new design is geared towards merging mobile and on-line web functions. Wadjas aim is to create a social network that moves with you from your mobile device to your computer.
The redesign looks to take advantage of growing smartphone use in the UK. The two major new features are:
Google Locations: basically the same as Latitude, this opt-in service allows users to track their friends location
Mobile Synchronisation: this contact lists merges mobile and online contacts. The list is automatically updated by either mobile or on-line entries, and can the list can be transferred to new mobiles.
From the release:
Alex Christoforou, Founder and Managing Director at Wadja said: “The redesign helps to bring people together both online and offline across all communications channels, whilst adapting to your personal needs and changing environment. Both the mobile and web user interfaces have been overhauled and improved: we’ve added AJAX to page loads, removed a lot of the clutter from our CSS and style sheets as well as making the site more scalable to prepare it for future advancements. Wadja is committed to bringing users together. It allows users full functionality from their mobile and synchronises data across all platforms. The redesign adds to the capacity for Wadja tribe members to customise their mobile social networking experience to enhance their online experience.”
What we think?
Integrating on-line and mobile is almost certainly the next big stop for social networks. When users can seamlessly use their same networking channels across any devices they have, it will be a major incentive for social networkers to acquire decent MIDs. Wadja has been focused on integrating access for its SMS based service across all MoSos for a long time now, so it’ll be interesting to see how well it does at connecting the on-line and mobile versions of the service.
