Rating: smash and grab

I haven’t seen a mobile campaign for Jewellery before, but that’s exactly what Fameo are doing. Slashphone reports that UK based Fameo have announced the launch of its mobile jewellery catalogue which will allow anyone with a GPRS or 3G phone to browse Fameo jewellery offers, monitor their order status, research information and get customer service on the go.

Managing director of Fameo Louise Davies says, “Fameo has always focused on it’s customers needs and made it a priority,”

Fameo has a long term strategy they say which involves building a WAP-based jewellery shopping portal featuring enhanced functionality for customers who want to buy jewellery using the browser on their mobile phone, price comparison for loose diamonds and colour gemstones via SMS text messages and a launch of a push-based mobile marketing campaign called the “Jewellery that fits your phone screen”.

Davies goes onto say that “Most mobile phones currently used in the UK are capable of accessing the internet to some degree and with mobile access, we are continuing the tradition of our innovative approach to putting jewellery shoppers first and keeping them connected”. Their mobile site will also feature a versatile search function, with access to Fameo jewellery products and SMS alerts for the latest jewellery arrivals, price changes, order status and special promotions.

We say: Its about time we saw non traditional tech companies reach out and embrace mobile technology. I look forward to seeing more companies take this brave new step.
