Mobile Web 2.0: Yell.com vs Google Maps

I couldn’t resist.

During the panel discussion at Mobile Web 2.0 in London I had a laptop full of questions from the floor. I had 15 minutes to highlight ideas, hot applications, services and more.

For the first question - What is the best mobile service?  SMS and voice won.

The second - what is the best mobile application the response included Google Maps and Yell.com Mobile.

So I asked Carey from Yell and Nick from Google to stand-up. Everyone looked shocked and I asked Yell - why is Yell.com map solution better than Google Maps.

Then I asked Google what was bigger a Google Maps application vs Gmail.

The response - Yell said 2.0 services to be launched soon.

Google - Maps are king.  It really made the audience stand to attention and everyone looked shocked I was going to pick on them next!
