According to T-Mobile’s Hossein Moiin we are in a tussle and every mobile operator is fighting for the same customer. This is only going to get worse moving forward when we move to an IP world. Then services providers and brands will also be jumping on the same competitive landmine.

Mr. Moiin raved initially about the iPhone and said it was the best thing in the world for T-Mobile (I have one and do like it – but its still early days).

He then spoke about the Google Handset Alliance and I fell asleep. Nope, nearly, my head fell but I kept it together to hear how applications were the future and vision and revenue sharing are big. (Wow - hold me back)

I personally thought this was last year’s news – but perhaps Mr. Moiin being technical shows that technology is more behind than actual vision and real scalability of 2.0 is another 10 years away.

Anyway T-Mobile 5 steps to success are:
Penetration will be over 100% everywhere which means more M2M communication

Micro segmentation is essential to ensure worry free pricing

Mobile devices should be extensions of individuals

Super broadband mobile networks based on collaborative technologies are the future

Partnership is the key to success

T-Mobile must invest to innovate (words that must pain Mr. Obermann – but actually I just read in the German Bunte magazine that he is having some sort of affair with a top German TV presenter so perhaps it won’t hurt him that much).
