MWC: The GoMo News Blender sponsored by MyStrands plus Player X party

by: Bena Roberts Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Thank-you to you if you are one of the 110 people that showed up between 6pm and 10pm at the MyStrands GoMo News blender. I am going to write down all the names and link to everyone that came and if I discover a new company they will definitely be in the spotlight.

But, first of all. I want to say how overwhelmed I am. Our first Blender at CTIA got about 43 visitors. The second Mobile World Congress event managed to get 110 and it was a brilliant venue and we had a really great time.

 Thank-you MyStrands.

110 – that is huge on a Wednesday night for a blog only one year old. On top of that loads of people were saying things like – “we are addicted to reading you”. The biggest honour is that two owners of VC’s in the UK turned up. I knew them and nearly fainted.

Actually, about eight people turned up after watching me moderate on social networking. Which was fab, because it really was a very very good and upbeat panel.

MyStrands paid for the drinks and food and I saw a lot of mobile demos going on. A couple of people said that next year because so many people want to pitch to GoMo we should do a demo night.

Anyway – highlights of the night – the pizzas arrived two hours late. I nearly fell off the bar stool as I tried to make a speech and everyone thanked me and said it was a brilliant cosy social networking event. So I am over the moon.

(Please excuse me if I am gushing – after our party I went to Player X and basically the Motricity male management swept me off my feet – literally. I will never look at Brendan Benzing the same (no really, from business man to John Travolta is 20 seconds – but more on that in the below). Rating: Oh what a night! Player X Party

So I only made it to the Player X party for one hour after the blender finished and I had a great hour. It was the best top up after a brilliant day. I was on coke (the drink!) but was full of beans and danced like a maniac.

Or, at least, I danced like a maniac until Brendan Benzing from Motricity twirled me around and around like crazy and then his friend and I felt like a ballerina. George Fraser also from Motricity looked like a rock star in what I can only describe as the most amazing shirt I have ever seen!

Rudy de Waele was my host for the night too and I networked with some seriously intelligent women. More later.
