MyClick – one click image recognition technology
Yet another company touting visual mobile technology has come out of the wood work. This time it’s the HongKong based MyClick.
MyClick Powers Campaigns for Major Brands
MyClick recently created Pizza Hut’s first consumer promotion for 2008 with the “Snap for Rewards” campaign. Launched in conjunction with the Chinese New year and running through April 2, 2008, the promotion lets customers use their cell phones to take snapshots of MyClick enabled images printed on Pizza Hut promotional materials to win discounts and prizes. With the MyClick software installed on their cell phones, customers can also instantly download the latest Pizza Hut promotional coupons and enter to win major prizes by accessing the MyClick WAP page.
The MyClick platform can be integrated into any advertising medium: Outdoor, TV, radio, internet and print. MyClick eliminates consumer confusion and provides maximum efficiency and significant cost savings for advertisers. The same campaign can be accessed instantly worldwide by consumers in different continents and locations. And all campaign results can be instantly displayed on mobile handsets allowing advertisers to monitor the effectiveness of each different medium.
How MyClick Works
Users download the MyClick application to their phones over the air or via the MyClick website. When they see an advertisement containing a MyClick frame, they activate their MyClick application and photograph the MyClick frame. If the software detects that the phone is not equipped with a camera, it prompts the user for an alpha-numeric code instead.
What we think?
WHAT – you don’t need a camera in the phone for this to work? Is that right? Have I mis-interpreted this? Basically the application has to be a MyClick one for this to work?
So basically, if you have the application downloaded you can access all the marketing from MyClick and advertisers without having to take a picture of it. So you can type in a number to get a coupon or code or special offer.
MyClick will need a lot of good or strong advertisers on board for this to work – but the idea of booking marking favourite advertisers is interesting. This paves the way for mobile search services to be integrated into a mobile coupon marketing ODP.
