Myxer UK new Ad-Supported Mobile Content

by: admin Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Myxer has announced the launch of its European operations with the debut of www.myxer.co.uk. The website hosts a armory of ad-supported content – from ringtones to wallpapers, video and images.

According to Myxer its key strengths are:
1. Help deliver unified ad campaigns from PC to mobile. Helping advertisers to pinpoint ads via user preferences.
2. For artists the company can provide a way of promoting new sounds
3. For consumers users can get down dirty and creative adding and mixing ringtones on Facebook.

From the press release

“The demand for free, ad-supported mobile content is growing at an unprecedented rate,” said Ian England, UK Managing Director, Myxer. “Ringtones, music, video and photos are part of a continuing trend to personalize mobiles as a form of self-expression. People want to be able to take the things they care about most with them wherever they go and they want it to be easy. At Myxer, we think it should be too, so we created a business that leverages the best of the Internet and mobile to make digital content simple to share and access anywhere you are.”

What we think?
So I just surfed on to the website which is live and I have to say – the user interface is simple. But either I am old – or I had no idea about ANY artist on the site. I mean I think I am still quite trendy and um.. “with it” – but I was desperate to say “I know them” – but I couldn’t.

So this makes me think that this site has HUGE potential. Because when I was 16 I was a music guru Goth chick that would make a point of listening to everything to name drop a band no one had heard of. Call me stupid – but believe me at this age in London – things like this matter. (Or at least they did 15, 16, 17 or 18 years ago – YELP). I am starting to sound like a mother.

Anyway, my cousin is at University and I will be sharing this link with her today – so she can be hip, young, cool and trendy for me.
