NewBay has added new features and functionality to O2’s Bluebook service including network initiated message backup, blogging, video support, personalisation tools and service moderation
O2 has also licensed NewBay LifeCache.

What?

It is a feature rich client application that enables:
-    network initiated message backup
-    blogging features to allow users to publish and share content with friends, family and internet visitors
-    personalisation tools to add skins to bluebook pages
-    integration with the O2 portal address book
-    moderation tools

From the press release

“Bluebook is a highly successful service for O2 and we are excited to be working with NewBay to add more feature rich functionality. NewBay fully understands the mobile user. They continue to develop innovative services that our subscribers want, while staying focused on making the services as easy as possible to use,” said Christine Marsters, Head of Products at O2 UK.

What we think?
I am desperately trying hard to like this and find something new. But there is nothing that I haven’t seen before and I can’t get excited about blacklisting people from sending you messages.
Also am a bit shocked that these are just new features as I would never have launched a social network with integration with the O2 portal address book or network initiated back-up –these are essential from day one – not day 100.
