Nokia going back to basics with simple C-Series mobile devices?

nokiaThere’s a reason that Nokia is the biggest selling mobile manufacturer in the world. At a time when the world was undergoing a massive surge in demand for mobile phones, Nokia was selling simply, reliable and cheap handsets. Having taken a bit of a battering in the smartphone market, it seems to have gone back to the basics that made it money with the new C series.

What’s the C-Series?

That’s what a lot of people wanted to know! Nokia registered the C-Series as a name last year, to go alongside its already popular N- and E-Series.

Although there are no official details for the C-Series, numerous blogs are carrying reports of a leak that originated with Daily Mobile. This shows an extremely interesting mix – the device is running on Symbian, which makes it a smartphone. But it carries the same simply form factors of the older devices from Nokias glory days. And it is marked as “C5″

What we think?

Hmmmm.

While it’s true that Nokia hasn’t had a real contender in the smartphone market, it’s also true that right now it doesn’t need to. Nokia is so ascendent that it can afford to watch developments, figure out what works, and move when it needs to. It’s not like Nokia can’t still make a loud noice – the recent launch of the Ovi Maps navigation service shook the navigation industry.
