NovaSearch mobile voice search technology for smartphones
Novaruis the company that provides the voice search technology that Medio uses for its Get It Now services on Verizon Wireless has launched NovaSearch Compact.
What is NovaSearch?
It’s an extension of it mobile voice search solution which is embedded into mobile devices.
Basically the new features and developments make it possible to push voice search applications without needing network access.
NovaSearch
Compact can specify any street address in the US in the form number-street-
city-state as a single utterance, without need for the time-consuming
dialogues that are required by multi-stage speech input systems. Novauris
reports that a spoken US address is identified within a few seconds using
their proprietary speech recognition and search technology, and that it
works well even in moving cars. Such one-shot spoken input of destination
addresses has obvious attractions, especially when the user’s hands and
eyes are otherwise occupied.
What sounds cool is the addition of a location voice search based on points of interest and a new music application with about 10,000 tracks on it.
From the press release
Novauris CEO Yoon Kim says: “We believe that the speed and accuracy of
Novauris large-scale mobile search on compact platforms is unique. The
ability to offer single-input specification of any location in the US
represents a huge step forward in the usability of navigation products.”
What we think?
OK, I have never been a huge fan of voice search, but the technology is improving and a lot of people want it. I am going to have to test the Medio application again this week.
