Nuance Speech Based Mobile Music Content Search
Rating: ding dong - did you mean ping pong?
Now, GoMo News has been writing a lot on mobile voice solutions and here is yet another one. Voice Signal has been very active of late and now Nuance is getting in on the game with a Mobile Music Service Package.
(Editors note: Bena Roberts feels analysis on Nuance vs Voicesignal coming on)

So what is the speech based search?
Nuance has indexed over one million songs. From now on users only need to say the title or artist when searching for music and the technology will do the rest.
What else?
JumpTap is making the Music Service Package available to its users.
From the press release: “Mobile music is the hottest category in the mobile entertainment industry, and mobile music search is a critical component in facilitating access to ever-increasing music catalogs,” said Michael Thompson, vice president and general manager, telco, search and communications, Nuance. “A more efficient means to find music tracks, such as speech recognition, opens new opportunities for wireless carriers and application developers to increase revenue through additional purchases. Nuance’s leadership in the full spectrum of speech technologies allows us to bring a complete speech solution to the mobile music market and significantly enhance the usability of music search applications.”
What we think

GoMo News is getting irritated by voice enablers. Nuance provides one of the better services that we have tested but new companies are launching an array of speech solutions that don’t work and are not doing anything to promote voice. Yesterday we read about a voice blogging service? Hello? Are you mad? Voice might be the killer but come on! What mobile consumers need is simplicity and ease. But most of all they need accuracy.
Any mobile voice enabler that can stand up now and say – our service works out of the car and in a club or bar…. And can prove it…. will get a free dinner on us.
