Nuance technology in 100 consumer products at CES
Rating: it’s nonsense sorry Nuance
Nuance is promoting the fact that at CES its voice services are available in over 100 products. The three key products and mobile phones, In Vehicle entertainment and Personal Navigation devices.
From the press release
“The most exciting element of CES every year is discovering how
favorite consumer devices have evolved and what the hot device of the
new year will be,” said Steve Chambers, president, mobile and consumer
division, Nuance. “As in many of today’s phones, cars and games, voice
and text input capabilities are powerful tools that help consumers
quickly and safely access information and controls. In conjunction
with CES 2008, we’ve seen myriad products and services announced that
feature Nuance-enabled capabilities in the hottest wireless handsets,
PNDs, in-vehicle entertainment, navigation systems, and game
consoles.”
What we think?
Nuance has a long way to go but after eating up most of the competition in the mobile voice space – the only way is up. Nuance marketing tactics constantly let the company down though and in 2008 the company must educate consumer on its services as voice search or voice directions sound too much like IVR for many people to get interested.
