Nuance
Nuance has added a voice active mobile search and messaging services for Rogers Wireless subscribers that use Blackberry devices in Canada.

The service is $6 (CAN) per month. It can be downloaded from the “domore” icon on the BlackBerry 7130e, 8703e, 8100 and 8800 devices.

From the press release:
With the press of a single button on a mobile phone, the Nuance Voice
Control service lets people simply say a command instead of fumbling with tiny
keypads or navigating complex menus to perform simple tasks. To operate the
service, subscribers use simple, intuitive voice commands such as:

– “Find business Overnight Shipping near Montreal”

– “Call Jim Johnson at work”

– “Email Karen Smith Subject budget meeting Body the time has been
changed to 2 pm”

– “Weather for Toronto”

– “Sports scores hockey”

– “Top news stories”

– “Search Web for population of British Columbia”

– “Go to Web site nuance.com”

What we think?
GoMo News has a love hate relationship with voice calling and dialling and using voice commands.
1. Voice is the killer app – but a lot of these services only work in the office
2. Do people want to speak commands? We don’t – but a lot of people do.
